Owen Takes The Reigns

The Vauxhall Motors board have announced that Owen Brown is the man to succeed Alvin McDonald. Brown certainly has the credentials to take this club forward a long and distinguished playing career has seen him play for local clubs Tranmere Rovers, Chester City, Crewe Alexandra as well as playing for Vauxhall towards the later stages of his career other playing clubs include Carlisle United as well as more than two years at Liverpool.

Mr Brown knows what he's in for he managed at this level for Altrincham in the 98-99 season, he also has previously managed Barrow and Prescot Cables.

Since 1999 Owen has been employed by Liverpool FC, as the Under-19 coach, before stepping up to assist the coching of the reserve team. He will continue to work for Liverpool FC, he is also the clubs Community Officer.

Owen was a unanimous choice by the Rivacre Park panel from the shortlisted eight. Its not been said who the other seven candidates were, but Shaun Teale, Gary Finlay and Peter Davenport are all names associated with the vacancy.

Owen has said he wishes he had a few training sessions rather than going straight in with a match. Brown took charge at Rivacre Park for last nights match against Droylsden. Vauxhall were beaten 4-2 after a Terry Ferans brace had given The Motormen a 2-0 advantage at half-time.

Owen Brown replaces Paul Rowlands who was caretaker manager for the time the board serached for a replacement, Paul only managed one win in his time in charge, although a convincing one against Runcorn 6-0.

Owen, 43, who had a breif playing stint a Rivacre Park in 1989, needs to turn things around as a manager, he has won this league twice as a coach or manager, his short term ambition is to qualify for the Conference Second Division North for next season. He missed a trip against his old club Prescot Cables in the FA Trophy 2nd round. Alfreton Town came out 4-1 victors last night to set up a tie at Town Ground on Saturday 29th November.

www.vauxhallmotors.tk wish Owen all the best and hope he can take this club forward to the Nationwide Conference in a few years.
