Fab Fearns Earns Replay |
| With a very impressive team performance and a 6-0 derby day win
over Runcorn four days prior to this match, Vauxhall had every reason to
be in high spirites. Bradford have only won one league match since August,
and that was over a month ago against Spennymoor.
The game itself didn't really get started in the first half, Lee Kissock added to Vauxhall's injury concerns by limping off after only 14 minutes, his name is on the pysio's list along with striker Nicky Young who is rated at 50-50 to feature in the replay Tuesday night, highly rated defender Mike Tomlinson and ex-Burscough defender Andy McMullen. The best chance of the half fell to Bradford's number 11 Steve Oleksewycz, who spun away from his marker to shot just wide of Andy Ralph's goal. The referee managed to miss what seemed to be a blatant hand ball in the area, which could have well sealed the tie. Vauxhall failed to reproduce the pasing moves they did just four days before against Runcorn. The second half started like the first with neither team really creating a decent opportunity. The game remained stalemate until a Carl Serrant free-kick from the left found the head of Stansfield who headed to thr right of Andy Ralph. That goal proved awake up call for The Motormen, who sprung into action as though they were 1-0 for the good. A Carl Nesbitt twice taken corner floated into the box at shoulder height only for the awaiting Terry Fearns and Robbie Lawton failing to make contact. Peter Cumiskey's cross was unable to find away to Fearns' head. Cumiskey again found himself with the ball this time went for the shot, but couldn't find away a past Matthew Boswell, a summer signing from Colwyn Bay. Beadford were just seven minutes away from a place in the fourth round qulaifying for the FA Cup. With nearly every player forward to try and get a result Andy Raplh was left to tidy up at the back with a couple of clearances up field, with the second bouncing past the Bradford back line and Terry Fearns foiled the off-side trap to run on and produce a looping header over Boswell. A well earned draw, Vauxhall could even say they deserved a win judgeing on their performance in the last 25 minutes created more chances than either teams in whole game. Full Time: Braford Park Avenue 1-1 Vauxhall Motors Man of the Match: Not a great performance by any player for the first 65 minutes, but we've gone with Terry Fearns for a well taken goal would have had more if we had played for the full 90 minutes rather than the last 25. Teams Motors: Ralph, Ward, Norman, Whelan, Robinson, Nesbitt, Lawton, Fearns, Kissock (Lynch 14), Cumiskey Subs not used: Hilton, Hooper, Griffiths, McCann |
