Late Goal Sinks Motors

Vauxhall Motors were extremley unlucky as a last minute controversial goal saw Motors leave Lyme Valley Parkway with nothing.

Motors had a great opportunity to break the deadlock in the opening 8 minutes when they were awarded a penalty. Star striker Terry Fearns stepped up only to hit the post. After some excellent passing from The Motormen leading up to the half hour mark they were hit with the opener in the 42nd minute when Dundas struck a brilliant shot from about 25 yards out.

Half Time: Newcastle Town 1-0 Vauxhall Motors

In the second half under very hot conditions both sides looked to have settled down a little and nothing much was created.

In the 83rd minute The Motormen drawn level when a good cross from the versitile midfielder Carl Nesbitt was met well by the head of Terry Fearns and with seven minutes remaining you would think a draw would have been the final outcome. Miller was very unlucky to see his effort hit the post towards the end of the game. Then with only a minute remaining there was a controversial decision when somehow the referee failed to see an obvouis handball from Kiely which helped him to progress towards goal and slot the ball passed the Motors shot stopper.
