We speak to Alvin again

Alvin McDonald
By Andrew Nixon
April 30 2003
Vauxhallmotors.tk were again lucky enough to speak to Alvin McDonald before the game at the Belle Vue, Alvin also summarised the match. Reporter Craig Haddock asked the questions and Andrew Nixon took the notes.

CH: With the squad we have now do you think we could survive in the Conference?

DH (Pyhsio): Oh you have to start with a tough one didn’t you

AM: I personally think we would. We played fairly well against the bigger clubs in one of games like the cup (QPR, Macclesfield, Leigh RMI), it would be difficult for us financially, as we only have a small squad of 16.

CH: Why do think Terry Fearns strike has gone down since January?

AM: He’s simply forgot how to hit the net. He still gets himself into chances, he’s not hiding away. He had a scoring opportunity at the end of the game on Tuesday that he could of scored, if he had took his chances he could have easily had a hat-trick had it have been before Christmas.

CH: What advantages do you think have over Wakefield & Emley?

AM: Simply better footballers!

CH: Is there any key players you will be watching out for?

AM: Simeon Bambrook, a lad called Day as well he scores a few. Reynolds too he is a quick thing. Overall they are a strong side.

CH: Is there any pre-season friendlies lined up yet?

AM: Yes we have Macclesfield because of Haddrell, that was part of the Matt Haddrell deal. Tranmere. And Wrexham as well because Dave (Hallom, Physio) is friends with Gary Bennett and we will try get these arranged at home, The league clubs seem to want to come us, and we want the gate receipts.

CH: What do you think of our recent performances?

AM: Disappointing, we have had some good performances like the Accrington Stanley game. On the other hand we’ve had some bad performances like Blyth, we are like a Jeckyl and Hyde side.

Alvin summed the game up by saying, “very disappointed, it definitely 2 points thrown away, we threw it away through one cross and one goal, we should have really capitalized on our one man advantage with about ten minutes remaining”.

*The matches against Tranmere and Macclesfield are provisionally pencilled in to take place on the 19th and 26th of July respectively, these matches will be staged at Rivacre Park.
