Alvin was more than happy to give a quick interview before the game and for a quick summery afterwards.
He said, "For our player of the year up until January I would have to say Terry Fearns for his goals to score 30 plus at this level is exceptional. But I would have to say since he came to the club Mike Tomlinson, since we bought him from Runcorn hes been fantastic."
Altough Alvin said that Tommo wasn't a replacement for Matt Haddrell he claimed,"We had inquiries about Matty, Macclesfield certainly did after the FA Cup and we wouldn't stand in the boys way. We did have a couple of inquiries about Matt, and Mike came available, so it was a case of bring someone in before you loose someone."
"When we came into the UniBond Prem we set a target for top 8 and exceeded everyones expectations and our own by finishing second. Its automatically thought that if you come runners-up you will win it the next season, but no-one has ever finished second in this league and gone onto win it the season after, so yeah the odds were certainly against us. We think that we have secured a top 5 place, I can't see 6th or 7th place catching us up. The FA Cup cost us, I think that took alot out of us. Games in hand mean nothing especially at this stage you just need the points on the board. Hopefully we can finish in the top 3 next season and maybe finish the job off a bit better than we have this season."
And when asked for a quick summary, he praised accy's performace, and warned them of Conference football by saying, "They are a strong team, I can see why they are top, they have skill, best wishes to Accrington for next season, as Burton Albion found out its a different ball game in the Conference. We have lost 10 games this season all by one goal." He also rubbished rumours of Terry Fearns leaving he said, "He is contracted for another year and we will be talking to him in the summer to see if he wants to stay on, like we will alot of players. But he is deffinetly here for another year."
Vauxhallmotors.tk would like to thank Alvin for his time to talk to us. We would also like to thank assistant manager Peter Carroll for his message of support, and hope that he comes onto this site regluarly.
