It has been rumoured that Southend are after the following players for the 2006/2007 Championship campaign
Now first of all I cannot see Teddy Sheringham leaving West Ham were he is possibly due to play his last season in his career for Southend a club who are newly promoted to the Championship and really would be the least attractive prospects of the two clubs. Another problem would be traveling to and from
Now we move onto a player that i and many Southend fans would love to see plying his trade at Roots Hall and that is
Now we finish this part off with the Millwall double Barry Hayles and Mark Phillips. With Hayles not having the best goal record would he really benefit Southend? And with Phillips having played less then 50 games for Milwall does he really have the experience that we need? As with all rumours i suppose it's just a matter of time till we find out if they will have a bright future at Southend or Not.
Now we discuss the new signings Southend have brought in during the past week.
Southend this week signed 25 year old Yeovil Town goalkeeper Steve Collis and it seems that Collis has been brought into the squad to push current first choice keeper Darryl Flahavan and this can only be a good thing as not only will it test the ability of both players but both players will improve with each week.

Now we finish this off with the news that Jamal Campbell-Ryce put in a great effort against england this past Saturday for a jamaican side that were thrashed 6-0 in Englands final warm up match before the world cup in Germany. The following article is from the official Southend website.
Jamal Campbell-Ryce's Jamaican side were on the end of an embarrassing 6-0 thumping by England as Peter Crouch ran riot at Old Trafford this afternoon.
However, despite seeing his country slip to such a comprehensive defeat it was the tricky winger who caught the eye for the Reggae Boyz.
Jamal had been the centre of controversy in the Jamaican camp in the build up to the game but it was his football that did the talking on the pitch.
Campbell-Ryce's defining moment in the friendly saw the former Charlton trainee beat Wayne Bridge before delivering a deft cross to the back post that the England defence managed to get a touch on to prevent the onrushing Jamaican forwards.
Frank Lampard had swept England into an early lead, which was doubled by Jermaine Taylor's own goal.
Crouch scored England's third from a set-piece, before Michael Owen rounded keeper Donovan Ricketts to make it 4-0.
After tapping in the fifth from Jamie Carragher's cross, Crouch blazed a late penalty over the bar but completed his hat-trick from Owen's pass.
Jamaica had fallen to a 4-1 defeat against Ghana earlier in the week in a game that saw another good showing for Southend's Campbell-Ryce.
