AS Airdrie 1-1 Corkerhill

This Scottish Cup fourth Round tie ended with a draw at New Broomfield. The sides meet again this coming saturday (29th) in Paisley for the replay. Airdrie remained unchaged from the side that won away at Shawbridge last time out.

After a 5 minute spell of pressing from the home side Corkerhill broke away and there first attack resulted in a goal as Rowan was beaten by a shot across goal which found the top corner after the striker raced clear of the home defence. Airdrie kept at it though and Adams had a good penalty claim turned down after being upended inside the area, five minutes later though the referee pointed to the spot as Adams trickery again got the better of the defender who could only lunge in and bring him down. Scott Lindsay fired a low spot kick to the keepers left which he got down to block and was up quickly to throw himself at the rebound which Lindsay blasted back at him. The Airdrie top scorer made amends soon after though as he raced through on goal after the away defence was split open with a simple pass, Lindsay rounded the keeper before slotting into an empty net. Airdrie had further chances in the first half with Smith firing over a volley from close range and Gray cut the ball back across the face of goal with no takers after a deep cross down Airdrie's right flank.

If Airdrie slightly shaded the first then it could be said the visitors did likewise in the second half mounting attacks consitently well, Airdrie though still fashioned some chances and Lindsay had a goal disallowed from a set piece as Cooper was ruled offside at the free kick. Kenny Pardoe fired a shot just wide of the right upright after he replaced the injured Lindsay in midfield. Ian Shaw had the best chance of the half as he worked himself an opening and curled a great effort which missed the top corner by inches. Rowan at the other end had to stoop low and got a glove to flick away a goalbound effort to keep the scores level.

A replay it is then which cant be argued against Airdrie just needed that wee rub of the green in front of goal but could easily have conceded a second themselves. We will travel through to Paisley expecting a tough challenge but one we are are capable of meeting.

MOM - Colin Adams  terrific workrate yet again.
