AS Airdrie 9-0 Quayside Thistle

Two changes from the midweek win over Skye saw Slevin restored to the defence and McCall replaced Brady on the right of midfield.

Airdrie dominated this match from start to finish a combination of good brave goalkeeping and some poor finishing saw the score line kept down! Neil Pardoe settled the team down when he picked up a loose clearance on Airdrie’s left after 15 minutes of constant pressure to wrap his foot round the ball and find the bottom corner from 12 yards out. Number two followed on 20 minutes as Ross Graham’s pass found Adams and his cross into the danger area was charged down by a visiting arm! Scott Lindsay dispatched the spot kick. Two minutes later Gray finally got on the score sheet after several chances, Scott Graham sending a ball over the quayside back line which Gray raced onto and found the bottom left corner for his 100th goal in a competitive match. On the half hour mark Airdrie were awarded a free kick on the edge of the visitor’s box and Ross Graham rolled the ball to Lindsay who blasted home through the keeper from 18 yards.

 Half Time 4-0

Airdrie continued where they left off and Adams Played in Lindsay on 55 minutes to notch up his hat trick. Ten minutes later Adams was again provider setting up Gray for a simple tap in at the back post. On 70 minutes Ross Graham again provided an assist for Neil Pardoe to knock home his second of the match. The 8th arrived from a corner as Neil Pardoe’s delivery landed on Cooper’s head, his effort was blocked Cooper struck the rebound which was blocked again but the ball fell kindly for Gray to hook home in a crowded six yard box to complete his hat trick after 75 minutes. Eight minutes from time Adams got a richly deserved goal of his own to cap off a good day.

Full Time 9-0

An easy win which could and probably should have been well into double figures but main thing is a clean sheet and entry to the knockout stages of the League cup with an away tie V Whitefield or Bosco at the end of September

Plenty of folk with a shout for MOM, goals! chances created etc but Smith was outstanding in midfield which allowed us to dominate so much of the play.
