Greenbank 1 AS Airdrie 6

3 goals from Kenny Pardoe and one apiece from Edgar, smith and Brady saw a comfortable win for Airdrie after last weeks disappointment

the manager made 2 changes with rowan and Stewart replacing Scott Lindsay and ally gray and a change back to a 4-4-2 formation

a quiet opening for the first 15 minutes saw only 1 chance with Edgar firing narrowly wide from 18 yards. Both teams had plenty of the ball and Greenbank number 10 was looking lively for the home team.airdrie took the lead when good build up play saw parry float a fine ball to Edgar who finished with a neat header.5 minutes later it was 2-0 when Kenny swung a corner in that the stand in keeper could only flap into the net. Shaw then missed a good chance following a fine pass from edgar.30 minutes gone and it was 3-0 with Kenny cutting out a throw in and rounding the keeper for a tap in. the home team had a few chances but rowan dealt with them pretty comfortably.40 minutes gone and number 4 arrived with Kenny completing his treble with an excellent strike from a free kick.

1 change saw gray on for the departing Shaw and within 10 minutes of the re-start Kenny Pardoe could have had another treble but the chances weren’t taken. Greenbank changed to a 3-5-2 and saw a lot of the ball but getting caught on the counter. After 65 it was 4-1 when slack marking from a throw in saw the home player strike the ball home from 18 yards past an unsighted rowan. However within 5 minutes it was 5-1 when a good move saw Capaldi clear on the right and his cut back was met by smith who hammered the ball into the bottom corner. A second change saw Brady on for Kenny and the young striker immediately beat 3 men before he was caught at the edge of the box. Good play from Capaldi, gray and Brady nearly created a 6th goal but with 10 to play gray fired in a shot that the keeper saved well but the rebound found Brady who finished neatly. A final change saw Leishman on for Stewart and Airdrie saw the game out comfortably

a decent performance from Airdrie which saw 6 goals scored and possibly 6 more with Kenny missing at least 5 himself. Some good performances notably from smith who was outstanding and also Neil Pardoe who produced one of his better displays of the season. However Airdrie will have to be at full strength next week with an away game to title chasing Greenhills.
