Trust members walk to victory.
By Stomp Admin
April 12 2009
As we know four members of the Airdrie Supporters Trust walked from Airdrie to Dundee to help raise funds for The St Andrews Hospice and Airdrie United's Youth training set up. The gruelling 80 + miles hike was completed on schedule yesterday before our away win to Dundee.
The amount raised has still to be announced but with a local company picking up the tab for the hotels all the money raised will go straight to the causes.

On arrival in Dundee the trust walkers were met by representatives of the Dundee “Dee4Life” trust. Later in the day Billy Shepherd of Dee4Life presented a Dundee football signed by the Airdrie team to Willie Marshall and Craig Hamilton.

Well done to everyone involved with the walk and a big thank you goes out to all those people who helped make this a success.

Yeah, there are a few folk who are due special thanks for help provided: -

Gillespie Investments for providing the funds which paid for the overnight accommodation.

Margaret Anderson, Bill Graham & Gordon McKennan for ferrying the bags between hotels & B&B's, and a huge thanks to Bill for organising a hotel in Dundee at very short notice for us when we were midway between Perth & Dundee.

Billy Shepherd, from Dee4Life, who arranged a welcome at Dundee for us and also gifted a match-ball signed by all the Airdrie players.

Also thanks to the female steward on duty at the turnstyles who tried to get the four of us complementary tickets for the match.....but failed (we were going to donate the entry fee to the funds raised). They get a lot of bad press from us but she did try and it's the thought that counts.

Last but definitely not least, to all those who have sponsored us on the walk. We're hoping to raise in the region of £2000 for the two causes and it's no mean achievement to raise this amount of money in the current financial times.

For those who haven't sponsored us yet and would like to, the link is still available on the club's website.

What an brilliant effort by all concerned....thumbs down

PS : As Willie points out if you havn't had the opportunity to donate something yet there is a link on the official club website www.airdrieunitedfc.com that will allow you to do so.
Not only will you be helping to fund the Airdrie stars of the future through the youth development programme you will be helping the most vulnerable people in our community who have to attend St Andrews Hospice, as well their families who really rely on the respite care that the hospice provides. Not forgetting to mention supporting the amazing staff & volounteers who do an equally amazing job every single day!

PPS : Schemie Translation
If you havn't already coughed (& naw were not talkin about spoons & yer haw-maws) Get the effin finger oot, get clickin & part wi some cash ya bass! Wit else r u gonna spend yir giro on except yer usual glue, wine & eccies? eh!! For once help someone as misfortunate as yerself ya heartless bawb@g
