Forest 0-4 AS Airdrie
Airdrie got the league season off to a good start with a solid 4-0 win over 10 man Forest.
The first 20 mins saw a pretty even game with a Cooper header against the post being the closest effort to a goal. However shortly after the game turned when Forest number 6 was sent off. Almost immediately Airdrie went in front with good play down the left releasing Neil Pardoe to strike the ball under the keeper for his first of the season. Five minutes before half time good play from Lindsay saw him beat 2 men then release a fine ball through to Edgar who ran on and hammered the ball into the bottom corner.
Into the second half and Shaw should have wrapped the game up minutes in when he went clear on goal but he fired weakly at the keeper. The home goalie then pulled of 2 fine saves from Lindsay then Morrison. With the extra man Airdrie had most of the ball and kept the ball well although maybe overdoing it at times. With 20 left Airdrie made the game safe when leading scorer Kenny Pardoe fired in the third from the edge of the box. With 5 to go Morrison capped of the win with a fourth goal from a tight angle.
A competent display from Airdrie who certainly were helped when the number 6 got himself sent off needlessly. However a couple of good goals and some decent displays saw the league campaign of to a good start.
