AS Airdrie picked up 3 points in the league cup section and lie 2 behind Victoria park after 2 games.

A superb hat trick from the in form Kenny Pardoe including a stunning Xabi Alonsoesque strike the highlight of the day. Further goals From Shaw, Gray and debutant Lindsay put the gloss on the win.

Airdrie started brightly and Kenny Pardoe netted the first of his treble 8 minutes in when he stroked home a deep cross from the left. Goal number two came when Smith picked the ball up and burst through the Dunbreac back line and squared for Shaw to slide the ball in for his second goal in as many games. Neil Pardoe had a chance to put Airdrie on easy street but he contrived to pass up an easy finish at the back post. Brother kenny came to his rescue when he picked the ball up inside his own half, took one touch and hit an absolute peach over the keeper and into the top corner a great way to end the half or so we though! a bit of slack play allowed the Dunbreac winger to come in from the left and despite Scott's desperate challenge manged to prod the ball high past Rowan.

The second half was all about the next goal and Airdrie went about there business looking for it. and it ws the man of the moment Kenny Pardoe who worked his magic keeping the ball close to feet before finding a strike low past the keeper. Airdrie made two changes at this point with Gray replacing the hat trick hero and Scott Lindsay making his debut in place of Smith. A few minutes later Leishman came on for his first start replacing Scott on the right flank. Gray made it 5 with a trademark goal, pace getting him clear of the defence before slotting past the keeper. Lindsay put the icing on the cake with an unstoppable 20 yarder when the ball broke to him after a set play.

An excellent performance and with a few players still to come back the strength in depth already looks good for the long season ahead
