EK Town 0-1 AS Airdrie

EK Town 0-1 AS Airdrie

Airdrie battled in to the quarter Finals of the Tommy Marshall Trophy with a hard fought away win. Down to the bare bones a 12 man squad made the trip to East Kilbride including myself (on the bench obviously)

Rowan

Stewart S.Graham Cooper R.Graham

Grant Edgar Smith N.Pardoe

K.Pardoe Clark

Not a pretty contest but it was the home side who had a couple of efforts on goal during the first half but nothing that troubled Rowan in the Airdrie goal. Airdrie's passing was all over the shop with Smith looking rusty after a long lay off. However the defensive qualities remained true and as always it's a base to build on in games.

Second half was much of a muchness until EK intoduced a sub who seemed to make a difference for them going forward but as always the rearguard stood firm. Finally Airdrie got the goal required when Stewart's measured pass found Clark who's controll allowed him to run in on goal and put the finish on the move. This took the wind out the home sides sails until they rallied late on and caused a few nervy moments but nothing concrete, meantime Clark had a fierce shot fly just off target. Airdrie held out the final few moments and advance to face Scotsman this coming Saturday. Gritty performance and EK can count themselves unlucky not to get to pens however another clean sheet gives even more confidence to the guys at the back who were the contenders for MOM oss Graham perhaps just shading it ahead of Cooper.
