AS Airdrie 2-0 Clydebank Thistle
Airdrie made a return to there home park for the first time since October! In gusting winds and still without the injured Smith and Capaldi, Clark and Grant also missed out for a trip to the big apple(congrats on the engagement big man) and a wedding respectively.
A game of two halfs was always on the cards and Clydebank had the wind in the first but failed to take advantage, Perhaps using the wind too much. Airdrie stuck to there passing game and carved a number of chances without really testing the keeper. Stewart however with a superb goal line clearance was the play of the first half so we'll end it there!
Second half was all about patience but that 12th man "T.Wind" caused havoc in the Clydebank defence and Neil Pardoe prodded home from close range minutes after KO. Airdrie quickly settled and had most of the play. 15 minutes in and Kenny Pardoe emulated his brothers feat with a little more style as he picked up the ball 20 yards out and coolly chipped the keeper. That should have been eclipsed when KP again picked up the ball 25 yards from goal pegged the onrushing defender and cracked a right footed drive off the crossbar(*this text has been removed due to legal action taken by Neil Pardoe's lawyers and we dont want to HEAD down that road*) Airdrie became a little complacent after the 2nd goal and Clydebank fashioned themselves a couple of chances but were off target. Trialist Iain Shaw replaced Neil Pardoe with 15 minutes to go but there were no further cl;ear cut chances although Airdrie did have most of the play in the closing stages. All in all far from an accomplished display but the job was done in trying conditions and with a bare bones squad that was what was required, 3 more points and we plod on with our eight remaining fixtures who knows! one game at a time! all the cliches you can think of. Special mention for Scott Graham today on his 100th appearance and could have had a goal to top it off, Cooper at the back throughout the first half was dominant in the air against the wind and a cracking block in the second, but my MOM today go's to Andy Edgar excellent all round display tackling passing running off the ball superb from the stand in skipper, though he may want to work on his shooting!
