As part of our commitment to making life for our fans a little bit easier, the Broomfield Stomp continues to bring you the Ramblers guide to season 2007 - 2008. This time we look at the away day trip to the sunny beaches of Ayr. This will probably the fixture most fans dread and look forward to this season basically because of the history that preceeds this season.

How to get there:
By Car:-
1. You start at Craigneuk Avenue in Airdrie and head towards Carlisle Road (A73)
2. Leave Craigneuk Avenue and turn left into Carlisle Road (A73).
3. Leave Carlisle Road (A73) and turn right into Brownsburn Road (B8058).
4. You just left Airdrie.
5. Enter the roundabout and leave at the 1. exit onto Calderbank Road
6. Stay on Calderbank Road (B802)
7. Leave Calderbank Road (B802) and head straightforward onto Woodhall Mill Road (B802).
8. Leave Woodhall Mill Road (B802) and turn right into Bo'ness Road (B799).
9. You are entering Motherwell.
10. Follow the Bo'ness Road (B799)
11. You just left Motherwell.
12. Leave Bo'ness Road (B799) and turn right into Glasgow And Edinburgh Road (A8).
13. You are entering Coatbridge.
14. Follow the Glasgow And Edinburgh Road (A8)
15. You just left Coatbridge.
16. Leave Glasgow And Edinburgh Road (A8) and join the M8 at junction M8 J8/M73 J2.
17. At junction M8 J21-J22 change from M8 onto the M77 in direction KILMARNOCK, M77, PRESTWICK AIRPORT . Follow the M77
18. Leave M77 and join A77.
19. You are entering Ayr.
20. Enter the roundabout Whitletts Roundabout and leave at the 3
21. Stay on High Road (A719)
22. Leave High Road (A719) and turn right into Craigie Road (B747)
23. Leave Craigie Road (B747) and head straightforward onto Burnett Terrace.
24. Leave Burnett Terrace and turn left into Hawkhill Avenue.
25. Leave Hawkhill Avenue and turn right into Somerset Road.
26. Leave Somerset Road and turn left into Tryfield Place.
27. You have arrived at your destination Tryfield Place in Ayr.

Trains:- Leave from Central Station

Directions by Train

Ayr station is a ten minute walk away from Somerset Park.
Exit the station through the back entrance (to the left as you come off the platform, over the footbridge) and turn left once outside. Walk up to the roundabout at the fire station, and go straight ahead at the roundabout, past the left hand side of the Civic Theatre.
Continue up Craigie Road to the traffic lights at the top. Go straight across again at this junction, then take a left and a right and you're there.
Alternatively, a limited number of trains stop at Newtown-on-Ayr station (see above map), a five minute walk from Somerset Park. On leaving the station, exit right from Faulkland Place Road onto Prestwick Road. Turn right and then take a left turn into McCalls Avenue. First right will then take you into Somerset Road where you'll see Somerset Park.

Why would you leave Airdrie and go to Coatbridge, via Motherwell?(Sm56)

I was waiting for someone to see that, the route finder see Chapelhall as being Motherwell and the A8 as being Coatbridge
