Easter Monday venue switch for Genesis

By Matt Lawton
April 6 2009
Leigh Genesis’ hopes of a vocal home crowd carrying them home to UniBond Premier League safety when they take on basement rivals Buxton on Easter Monday have been dashed with the news that the Derbyshire outfit have refused a switch in fixture date and as such Genesis have been forced to find an alternative venue for the fixture.
With the Leigh Sports Village Stadium already set to host Leigh Centurions' home game against Barrow Raiders on Easter Monday, 13th April, it was always likely that at least a change of fixture date would have to be secured.

However, despite the best attempts of Leigh Genesis to secure either a "double header" at the Sports Village that, coupled with the already earlier than usual 1pm kick off for the Centurions fixture, would involve a later kick-off for the vital UniBond Premier League encounter, or a date switch that would see the fixture played later on that week, the appeals fell on deaf ears.

As such, the fixture will now take place at Warrington Town's Cantilever Park home with a 3pm kick off on Monday 13th April, depriving Leigh of the buoyant support that proved so vital in the recent ‘homecoming' 2-1 victory over Cammell Laird.

Admission will cost £8 for adults, £5 for students and senior citizens and just £2 for under 18's, with season tickets valid for use as normal.
