Buxton vs. Leigh Genesis preview

By Matt Lawton October 2 2008
After enjoying an unexpected ten day break from action following the hard-fought 1-0 win away to Marine, Leigh Genesis look to boost their play-off credentials on Saturday when they travel to Derbyshire to face UniBond Premier League strugglers Buxton.

With a rest period of ten days after the Marine game, Genesis manager Steve Bleasdale has a virtually full strength side to choose from, with only Jerome Watt struggling for fitness because of a hamstring injury, with Richard Chetcuti making his long-awaited return from injury in the victory at the Arriva Stadium.

Buxton have had a mixed start to the season, with the disappointment on their current positioning just a point clear of the relegation zone being offset by an impressive FA Cup victory over Blue Square North outfit Burscough last weekend.

With the Leigh Genesis Supporters Association operating a coach to the game that enables Leigh supporters to travel to the game for just £5, a substantial travelling support is expecting to make the trip for the game that kicks off at 3pm on Saturday.

As is par for the course in UniBond fixtures, there is ex-Leigh representation at Buxton, although only in the shape of striker Steve Brodie, who had a spell at Hilton Park earlier this century.
