Trio depart Genesis

Tim Dittmer
By Matt Lawton August 14 2008
Three players who appeared for Leigh Genesis during their successful pre-season programme have been released from the club on the eve of the start of the UniBond Premier League season, with two players likely to join local rivals Prescot Cables.

Goalkeeper Tim Dittmer, who made twenty two appearances last season after joining Leigh in October 2007, has been released from his contract to join local rivals Prescot Cables, despite making several pre-season appearances for Leigh Genesis, though mindful of the fact that summer signing Steve Dickinson is likely to be Steve Bleasdale's number one between the sticks this season.

Twenty one year old Thomas Moore is also leaving the club after only a matter of months with Leigh Genesis that saw several substitute appearances during pre-season, with the forward likely to rejoin former club Prescot.

The final player to be leaving the club at this time is Karl O'Donnell, who has been released from the club despite being a regular during pre-season, scoring Leigh's final goal in the 5-0 thrashing of Atherton Collieries whilst also scoring in the 3-1 victory away to AFC Fylde. In keeping with Dittmer and Moore, Prescot are also rumoured to be following the progress of O'Donnell.

All three players leave with the club's best wishes.
