Watt's the one for Genesis!

Jerome Watt
By Matt Lawton July 18 2008
Leigh Genesis manager Steve Bleasdale has continued his squad building ahead of his side's UniBond Premier League campaign with the signing of exciting winger Jerome Watt after the former Blackburn man enjoyed a successful trial period with the club.

Watt appeared as a second half substitute in Tuesday night's 5-0 pre-season friendly victory at Atherton Collieries and was particularly impressive on the left hand side of the Genesis midfielder, producing a dazzling performance that included a majestic pass to create his side's fifth goal for Carl O'Donnell, impressing supporters and manager alike.

The twenty three year old began his career as a trainee with Blackburn Rovers, spending two years at Ewood Park before a loan spell with Belgian league side Cercle Brugge.

Upon his return to English football, Watt played ten games for Northampton Town during 2006/07 followed by loan periods with Morecambe and Salisbury City.

Watt started last season with League Two side Rochdale before joining Southport, leaving Haig Avenue to spend the majority of the season alongside fellow Leigh Genesis star Jerome Fitzgerald in Fleetwood Town's UniBond Premier League side.

Watt is likely to make another appearance for Leigh Genesis in tomorrow's friendly away to Warrington Town (3pm kick off).
