With mid-table obscurity a prospect for much of the season, Worcester have stumbled their way to the end of the season, with a 1-0 home defeat to Gainsborough Trinity a fortnight ago being followed by a 6-0 hammering at struggling Blyth Spartans, no doubt a long journey home from the North East for Worcester's most loyal supporters.
Such disappointing trips home have appeared to be the norm at times for RMI this season, but recent victories over Alfreton and Burscough have brought a degree of optimism to the Hilton Park faithful, despite last weekend's valiant 2-1 defeat at Gainsborough confirming the club's relegation to the UniBond Premier League.
And although the club's status for next season is now certain, that doesn't mean that the current season will end with a whimper, with the aim to now finish at least second bottom of the table, with Steve Bleasdale's side currently just two points behind rivals Vauxhall Motors with a game in hand; a Leigh victory on Saturday putting them in the driving seat if Motors fail to beat a Hinckley United side scrapping for their lives just outside of the relegation zone.
Leigh and Worcester last met in September when a Kevin Rapley goal in stoppage time proved little consolation in a 3-1 defeat for a side managed at the time by Stuart Humphreys, though Worcester will hold similarly unhappy memories of Hilton Park when, despite taking the lead through Adam Webster, Leigh took the points with Owen Roberts' first goal for the club and a deft Rapley lob.
In keeping with recent home games, admission prices have been slashed for the fixture, with adults costing £7, OAP's and students gaining admission for £4 while under 16's can join the club's growing band of young supporters and make themselves a part of the boisterous atmosphere for just £1.
Kick off is at 3pm at Hilton Park on Saturday, get yourself to Hilton Park and help to replicate the terrific atmosphere that helped spur the lads on to victory in the Lancashire derby with Burscough in their last home outing.
