Leigh RMI vs. Burscough preview

By Matt Lawton April 7 2008
Ninth placed Burscough make the short trip to Hilton Park on Tuesday evening for what is effectively the third and deciding fixture between the two Lancastrian rivals for this season, RMI having won at Victoria Park earlier in the season before falling to a league defeat at the same venue.

Burscough arrive at Hilton Park with an outside chance of still making the play-offs, although whether an attempt to win promotion to the Blue Square Premier might be a little too much, too soon for the village club, playing in their first ever season in the Blue Square North and potentially emulating the achievement of Yorkshire villagers Farsley Celtic, who gained promotion to the top level of non-league football last season after just one term at this level.

That said, the Linnets' play-off aspirations were seriously damaged at the weekend when they fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Redditch United.

Young RMI striker James Dunn is facing a race to be fit to face his former club as he struggles with the injury that forced him to withdraw from the action in Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to Tamworth, while midfielder David Prout, a recent signing from Southport, is still awaiting his first team debut.

In keeping with recent fixtures, admission prices have been slashed for tomorrow evening's game, with adults costing £7, students and OAP's able to see the game for £4 while under 16's can gain admission to Hilton Park for just £1.

Kick off is at 7:45pm - get yourself down to Hilton Park and help continue the excellent vocal support that has been coming from the terraces recently.
