Bleasdale signs new defender

By Matt Lawton February 8 2008
Leigh RMI manager Steve Bleasdale has completed the signing of versatile defender Paul Booth from UniBond Premier League outfit Leek Town, with the former Oldham Athletic right back or centre back likely to go straight in to the squad that will face local rivals Hyde United at Ewen Fields tomorrow afternoon.

Booth, a one-time Chester City trialist at the same time as current RMI striker Mark Smyth, recently turned down an approach from Ashton United but has decided to join RMI's fight for Blue Square North survival.

Booth, who joined Leek in September 2005 following his release from Oldham Athletic, was voted Town's "Player's Player of the Year" in his first season and went on to score four goals in ninety-seven appearances for the club.
