New boss to be revealed today

Irvine

West Bromwich Albion will reveal the identity of their new manager this afternoon, according to sources linked with the club. Manager-less Baggies began the search for a new boss after Tony Mowbray's departure to Celtic nearly a fortnight ago. But the period of unrest is due to be ended later today as the club are expected to reveal Alan Irvine as Mowbray's replacement.

Albion first expressed an interest in the Preston North End boss a week ago.  Despite the hands off statement issued by the Championship side, who made the play offs last season, Jeremy Peace has been undeterred in his quest to secure his services.

According to sources this morning, Irvine will officially be named the new boss of West Bromwich Albion later on today, after it is believed a deal between the two clubs has been reached.  It is believed that a sum of £1 million has been agreed - a compensation payment which Preston will want up front.  It is likely however that Peace will look to stagger the payment, leaving some dependant on performance and achievement.

This will be a great move if we actually get him as he has done really well during his spell at PNE, he is my first choice with Ferggy second reason being he has worked as an assistant to one of the top Premier managers before he went on to manage himself of which he has done a great job.

I have to admit I was a little surprised when I heard his name mentioned, not what I was expecting you'd go for. Could be good for you though. Welcome to the board as well, hope to see you back.
