Defender insists his West Brom 'adventure' is over

Hoefkens

Carl Hoefkens yesterday insisted that his Baggies ‘adventure’ was over despite manager Tony Mowbray having made no final decisions on who will stay or go in the summer. The 30 year old defender commented that he aspires to stay in the Premier League after West Brom’s recent relegation to the Championship.

His ambitions may be a little over the top however, it is unlikely that his 10 appearances in the top flight this season have made anybody sit up and take notice.  With Hoefkens playing a major part in West Brom’s promotion the previous season, gaffer Tony Mowbray could ask the defender to stay.

His current deal expires in June this year.  Hoefkens signed a two year deal when he moved from Stoke City during the summer of 2007.  The original deal gave Albion the opportunity to extend the contract by a further year, although it is unclear yet whether they intend to exercise that option.
