Capello calls on Baggies Carson
By Jemma Tappenden October 6 2008
West Bromwich Albion goal keeper Scott Carson has had his efforts with the baggies rewarded, with a call up from England boss Fabio Capello. The 23 year old might have felt his career crashing around him last year, after a fall from grace at Liverpool and a loan spell at Villa which ended with no permanent move. But his hard work and determination has paid off.

A summer move to Albion looks to have been just the tonic Scott Carson needed.  His fine displays have aided Albion to their best ever Premiership start, but also got his international career back on track after having only won two caps previously.

Carson has kept three clean sheets in the last five games for the Baggies, two of those coming in important 1-0 victories this and last weekend.  This is the second time Carson has been called up by Capello, having been named an unused sub last February during his first game in charge.

Carson joins David James and Robert Green as the three keepers named in the England squad for the next two World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus.
