Paddy McCourt expected to sign soon

West Brom are believed to be close to the signing of Derry Midfielder Paddy McCourt despite reportedly having a second bid turned down. Albion's first offer for the player was the cause of some upset with Derry, with them describing the proposed deal as insulting. A second offer, believed to be £50,000 up front with the same again to come based on appearances has also been turned down.

But despite this the League of Ireland side are still believed to be considering further offers from the Baggies, with Derry Chairman Pat McDaid and manager Stephen Kenny resigned to losing the former Rochdale man.

The 24 year old midfielder has attracted attention from several English clubs with Albion said to be leading the race to get his signature.

It is likely that Derry will except a straight £100,000 deal for the player, whose transfer to the Hawthorns may well be held up until the transfer window opens in Ireland on 1st July.
