Baggies in race to sign Everton's Carsley

Albion are believed to have offered a deal to Everton midfielder Lee Carsley to bring him to the Hawthorns next season. Carsley, 34, has turned down a 1 year extention at Goodison Park and will leave the club this summer when his contract expires. The Baggies are one of three Midlands sides believed to be in the race to get the signature of the experienced veteran.

West Brom perhaps offer the most attractive of the three deals, being the only side currently linked with the player that can offer Premiership football next season.

Relegated clubs Derby County and Birmingham City have also expressed an interest in Carsley, where adbavtages might be found for both.  Birmingham is Carsley's place of birth and Derby County were the side that launched the midfielder's career.

Everton boss David Moyes insisted that there were no hard feelings between Lee and anyone at the club, who all understood the players decision to seek a move back to the Midlands where his family remained even throughout his time at Everton.
