In a word, no. Ok, so the man is out of contract meaning that potentially one of the most influential and valuable assets at the Hawthorns could be leaving this summer for the sum total of zero. But Gera will have to spread himself out pretty far and wide to cover even half of the clubs he seems to be linked with this week.
In reality it looks like Albion may face some difficulties in persuading the 29 year old Hungarian International to put pen to paper. But this is by no means the same as having lost all hope altogether.
Albion fans have some optimism at least for believing Gera may well stay. His four year spell at the club so far has seen him turn down a host of offers from other clubs, including moving to the Premiership at a time when Albion were still rooted in the Championship. Promotion has got be a positive for Gera staying on.
But the player himself has admitted that the key to happiness is to not close the door on any offers. And whilst rumours that offers from other more established Premiership sides such as Everton and Newcastle are not new, news over the weekend that Portuguese club Benfica are interested in Gera might just have Baggies fans squirming a little.
News this weeks links three Premiership clubs with the possible signing of Gera, with Everton, Newcastle and Portsmouth all reportedly interested in signing the midfielder. Alongside that old rumours from last season that Middlesbrough are sniffing around have never really been truly flushed away.
Contract talks are believed to be ongoing with Gera, who like Phillips id believed to have already turned down one offer earlier in the year. Phillips on the other hand looks likely to move on after Chairman Jeremey Peace spoke out saying that the club were prepared to offer Super Kev just a 12 month contract extenstion.
