Boss sets up targets but rules out summer exodus
By Jemma Tappenden May 12 2008
Promotion winning manager Tony Mowbray has quite a summer ahead of him. Promotion to the Premiership is said to be worth an estimated £60 million to West Bromwich Albion, and transfer targets will need to be established quickly if the Baggies are to strengthen. But Mowbray has insisted that he does not intend to shaft his promotion winning side by planning a clearout.

Mowbray has assured his current squad that no-one is being ushered out of the club over the summer, despite the gaffer having an alleged long list of summer targets.

Mowbray has remained tight lipped over who he hopes to bring into the Hawthorns, but has commented that none of his current players will be forced to leave the club over the summer.

Hoping to increase competition for places and depth to his squad, Mowbray will be hoping to settle contracts over three players contracts as soon as possible.  First team regulars Zoltan Gera, Kevin Phillips and Martin Albrechtsen are all out of contract this summer, and with clubs already reportedly sniffing round Gera and Phillips fans as well as Mowbray will be hoping agreements are reached soon.

Of the rest of his squad Mowbray has been full of praise, particularly for Robert Koren - one of Mowbray's summer aquisitions in 2007.  But he did admit that some of his 'fringe' players might be given permission to leave the club should other clubs make him an offer.

It looks likely that Mowbray will dip into the loan market for new signings this summer.  Of the current on loan players at the Hawthorns it is expected that Luke Moore and Roman Bednar will have their deals made permanent.  Slusarski, Martis, Tininho and Beattie will report back for pre season training but will be allowed to discuss possible moves, and Bostjan Cesar looks set to return to Marseille
