Goals from the on loan Korean Kim and Chris Brunt secured all three points for the Baggies ensuring that they were crowned champions of the division. Fellow Midlanders Stoke City have secured the second automatic promotion spot, a point at home to Leicester City was enough for them after Hull went down to a 1-0 defeat at playoff hopefuls Ipswich.
There was not such good luck for Albions rivals Wolves however. They snatched all three points with an 87th minute goal from Seyi George Olofinjana at home to Plymouth. But it wasn't enough as Blackpool who missed a late penalty at Bloomfield Road were held to a 1-1 draw by Watford. The point saw Watford retain their play off place whilst slipping to 6th, McCarthy's men miss out on goal difference.
The point was enough to ensure Blackpool's survival however in a dramatic finish at the other end of the table. Southampton who started the day third from bottom looked odds on favourites for the drop as they faced a Sheffield Utd side scrapping for the playoffs.
The Saints won 3-2 sending Leicester City down to League One after a point at Stoke's Brittania Stadium was not enough to save them.
