But Bednar has suddenly become unsettled at Albion, and has revealed this week that the club risk losing his services completely if they fail to treat him with the respect he feels he deserves.
Maybe a case of another big headed footballer trying to dictate all the goings on? Possibly, although there does appear to be no advancement on the alleged pre agreement made between Hearts and Albion during the January transfer window allowing the Baggies first refusal on the forward.
Bednar himself believes that Albion are stalling, they have not yet agreed personal terms, nor have they agreed to pay the extra £500,000 that Hearts are reported to want if the Baggies reach the Premiership.
Tony Mowbray however has openly spoken about the deal, commenting that as far as he is concerned the deal is water tight, and Bednar will become an Albion player at the end of the season as promised.
Maybe Mr Bednar could indeed do with a little extra patience at such a crucial time. To my reckoning it is not the end of the season yet - nor are Albion 100% guaranteed to take promotion as any long suffering Baggie will most gladly tell you. And with Chairman Jeremy Peace reportedly refusing to discuss or negotiate any transfer or contract talk until the Baggies status for next season is clear, perhaps the best thing Bednar could do right now is concentrate on the task ahead.
