Luke Moore finally speaks about that red card

Onloan Moore
By Jemma Tappenden March 26 2008
It seems ironic that in a week where the use of red cards has been heavily criticised in football, for all the right and wrong reasons as usual, that onloan striker Luke Moore has chosen to air his views on his very own sending off at the Hawthorns almost two weeks ago, in a 4-1 defeat by Championship strugglers Leicester City. Moore told the Express and Star, “It happens in football”.

Life at the Hawthorns for the onloan Villa man was never going to be a piece of cake.  Trying to break into a front line up between Roman Bednar, Kevin Phillips and Ishmael Miller, who have hit a phenomenal amount of goals between them this season was always going to be hard.

But one thing that certainly doesn’t impress the gaffer or the fans for that matter is a red card.  Moore was shown straight red for his two footed challenge on Foxes defender Richard Stearman, but he admits he has not watched any replays of the tackle since the incident.

“I haven’t seen the tackle again but some people say it was harsh and some say it wasn’t.”  Moore told the Express and Star.

Moore insists that whilst his challenge was seriously mistimed, there was no malice in it.  Believing that the television cameras made the incident look worse than it actually was Moore has stressed that he is not a dirty player, a fact which is perhaps more concrete when conceding the fact that this is they youngsters first ever red card.

Moore insists that he can’t wait to get back into the action, and is clearly focused on helping Albion achieve promotion. But one thing that is for certain is he will be absent from the Baggies next two league meetings, and also their FA Cup semi final at Wembley as he is cup tied.
