Albion have ensured that any first dibs on the player in the summer will fall to them, having already agreed a fee of £3.5 million if the forward impresses.
Born in Birmingham on 13th February 1986, Luke is the younger brother of Stefan Moore, ex Queens Pak Rangers and Aston Villa. In fact the sibling partnership played a crucial role in Villa’s FA Youth Cup winning side in 2002. 2003 saw Luke move to Wycombe Wanderers on-loan, scoring his first goal in only his second appearance for the club in a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Moore returned to Aston Villa at the end of the 2003/04 season, where an unfortunate injury to his brother gave him his chance to break through into the first team, making his debut as a substitute in a 2-2 draw against local rivals Birmingham City. He scored his first senior goal for Villa in a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough on 5th March 2005, and exactly 11 months later scored his first Villa hatrick also against Boro.
Despite reinforcing their side with more forwards in 2005, Moore kept his place in the Villa starting eleven, and injury to Kevin Phillips and Milan Baros ensured his place remained safe throughout the season. In 2006 Moore suffered a repeat of a childhood injury to his shoulder which kept him out of action until his return as a substitute on 9th April 2007 against Wigan Athletic at Villa Park.
