LAST WEEKS MATCH REPORT
By Chris Campbell
October 23 2002
RUTHIN secured top spot in the Cymru Alliance on Saturday, but left it very late to see off the challenge of Amlwch. Ruthin knew if they could take three point they would open up a lead at the top of the Cymru Alliance as Porthmadog werent playing.

Tim Dyer´s side were made to work hard for the three points by an experienced Amlwch side.
The visitors from Anglesey made a bright start to the match and went ahead after only nine minutes.
Darren Thomas was the man on target for Amlwch and Sion T Roberts, Calvin Davies and Chris Williams all went close to getting Ruthin back on level terms, only to be denied by the Amlwch keeper.
Despite creating a number of opportunities, Ruthin were strangely subdued considering top spot in the Cymru Alliance for the first time in the club´s history was up for grabs.
The introduction of assistant boss Neil Davies as a substitute seemed to spur the hosts into action and it was Davies who finally levelled matters with just 18 minutes left.
This strike opened the floodgates and a Terry Jackson own goal put Ruthin into the lead for the first time.
Richard Williams Cooke then sealed victory with the hosts´ third just two minutes from time and assistant boss Davies rounded things off nicely with his second goal in injury time.
