CYMRU ALLIANCE ROUND UP
19TH OCTOBER 2002
FLINT 3-2 AIRBUS: AIRBUS were hit by a red card for Chris Herbert in the 49th minute for a two-footed tackle as Flint continued their climb up the Cymru Alliance League table with this impressive win - only their third of the season.
Lee Taylor put Flint in front with a brilliant overhead kick but then John Dowridge equalised before Mike Costello fired Airbus ahead on the hour.
Flint finished strongly for Lee Acott to level and, with seven minutes left, Lee Jones headed the winner from a corner.
GRESFORD 3-1 HOLYWELL : GRESFORD pulled themselves off the foot of the Alliance after grabbing their first win of the season at the expense of their fellow strugglers
After Holywell had taken an interval lead through Shane Francis, Gresford hit back early in the second half with Matt Williams heading a leveller from Damian Roden's cross.
Craig Williams added a second on the hour after some good work from Phil Jones and Wyn Jones settled the issue moments later with Carl Andrews the provider.
BUCKLEY TOWN 1-2 LLANGEFNI: BUCKLEY'S inconsistent campaign continued after slipping to a disappointing home defeat at the hands of their Anglesey visitors.
The hosts were caught cold early on as Corrie Sinnott fired Llangefni ahead inside the first minute before Graham Mostyn headed a second from a free-kick on 12 minutes. Buckley enjoyed the majority of possession but squandered several good openings before Jason Jones headed one back for the hosts.
The game was held up for half-an-hour with Llangefni midfielder Richard Evans suffering a break to the lower leg.
MOLD ALEX 4-1 LLANFAIRPWLL : TWO second-half goals from Danny Jones steered Mold to victory against their Anglesey visitors.
After Chris Boulton had fired the hosts ahead from a tight angle on 10 minutes, Llanfair hit back early in the second half through Danny Clorley while the visitors also had a goal disallowed for off-side.
But Mold rallied, with Jones opening his account with a strike from the edge of the box, then scoring direct from a corner before Wes Brereton sealed the victory.
AMLWYCH TOWN 0-0 GUILDSFIELD : KEEPERS Mervyn Williams of Amlwch Town and Gareth Ashley of Guilsfield maintained clean sheets but outfield players had little to be pleased about in a lack-lustre game.
While most scoring attempts were from long range, two potential marksmen were unlucky to crash shots against uprights, Ben Jones for the hosts on 13 minutes and Jamie Bishop for the visitors on the half- hour.
Holyhead Hotspur 4, Halkyn United 1: HOTSPUR'S first home game for five weeks produced a rousing result but only because of a second-half transformation after Halkyn led through Gareth Thomas.
Spurs struck back with goals by Adie Owen after 51 (penalty) and 85, and subs Carl Hagan after 72 and Gwyn Jones after 90.
LLANDUDNO 2-0 LEX: SIMON Richards, Llandudno's recent signing from Buckley, produced two brilliant solo goals to keep the Seasiders hard on the heels of the pacemakers.
Richards pounced first in the 14th minute, beating two men in a spectacular run before unleashing a shot from 16 yards, and then repeated the performance a minute from the end as he hit the target with a cracker from the edge of the box.
Lex dominated the last quarter but couldn't crack a solid Llandudno defence.
