Injuries and suspensions forced Jim Weir to ring the changes from the side which drew at Albion Rovers.
Out went the suspended McLeod and Donachie and the injured Henslee and into the side came Stuart Malcolm, signed on loan from Alloa, Darryn Kelly and Paul Napier.
Malcolm joined Neil Stephen in central defence with Kelly at right-back and Jed Stirling on the left.
Cumming, Davidson, Docherty and Napier made up the midfield, with Rodgers and Baird up front.
Queen's took the lead in 13 minutes after some quality play. Weatherston controlled the ball, skated past Stephen and crossed for Trouten to head home.
Montrose battled manfully to get going and in 27 minutes, Cumming laid the ball back to Napier, but his shot was easy for the keeper.
In 33 minutes, the lively Napier cut in from the left and fired a shot just wide from the edge of the box.
In 36 minutes, Dunlop became the first booking for a foul in Baird.
Despite facing the gale, Montrose managed to create a few opportunities and in 38 minutes, a Rodgers header from a Stirling free-kick forced a diving save from Crawford.
Right on the half-time whistle, Montrose should of been level. A Stirling free-kick found Cumming on the far post and he headed narrowly wide, when it seemed easier to score.
The home side made their first change in 56 minutes. Mark Docherty, who had taken a knock minutes earlier, was replaced by Scott Michie and Montrose went with three men up front.
In 61 minutes, Rodgers sent a spectacular effort over from 25 yards, then five minutes later he again showed his willingness to shoot from distance, but the ball went wide.
In 70 minutes, Hugh Davidson was given a soft booking for checking the run of Trouten.
With 73 minutes played, Queen's Park scored again to effectively clinch the points. Weatherston and Trouten caused panic in the box as the Montrose defence failed to deal with a high ball and Bell came charging off his line and clattered into Trouten, Bell did seem to win the ball first but the ref pointed to the spot.
Bell was unlucky not to stop the penalty and injured himself in an akward fall.
Montrose immediately made a second change, sending on Phil Reid for Napier.
There was no way back for Montrose and four minutes from time, Davidson had a lunge at Paton with the ball nowhere in the vicinity, collected a second booking and was ordered off.
It wasn't a bad performance in terrible conditions but again Montrose lacked that cutting edge up front. What is the sense of playing long balls to Roddgers and Baird. Weir has his work cut out and here is hoping to next season
