Already fans were shocked particularly to see that fans favourites John Leah and John Toner have been released this season, as well as Alfie Carter, Duane Courtney and Rob Williams. Head Coach Andy Cale claims that "By releasing some of the players who we felt were coming to the end of their full-time careers, it will give the opportunity for some of the younger ones to come in.
This will give us the chance to bring in some new faces in the summer to strengthen the squad."
However since my visit to TNS to watch Aber come away from Park Hall with a deserved point it was clear something was not right in the camp.
First off whatever criticisms people may have of Andrew Lincoln he was a well respected Media Officer and webmaster and Saints-Alive was undoubtedly the best official site in the WPL. For whatever reason Saints-Alive is now an unofficial site and communication from the club especially the new official site www.tnsfc.co.uk appears to be poor in comparison.
Player sponsors apparently were promised a package in return for parting with their hard earned money but are yet to receive anything apart from their name in match day programme.
Supporters also claim to be kept in the dark about progress with developing Park Hall. Something has been promised for months but they have heard it all before.
Currently the ground does not have cover for spectators apart from the balcony and is not UEFA compliant so European games will likely to continue to take place at Latham Park.
Final thing that struck me was the amount of people in the Venue on Match Days but not allowed to see the match. Seeing as the club must lose lots of money anyway on the low crowds how about doing a deal where say a family who pays for a meal is allowed into the ground or am I being to complex?
Whatever happens it is clear action needs to be done on and off the field if TNS are going to be a regular dominant force in the WPL.
