Rhyl Claim Title

By Robert Stock
April 17 2009

Rhyl have tonight won the Welsh Premier, thanks to Aberystwyth holding 2nd placed Llanelli to 1-1 draw. would like to congratulate all supporters, officials and players of Rhyl on another season of success.

The part timers have outplayed their professional rivals in TNS and Llanelli over the course of the season, and should be applauded on lifting the title for the first time since 2004.

We would like to take the opportunity to wish Rhyl every success representing Wales in next season's Champions League.

Congratulations, at least we managed to beat the league champions twice this season. Unfortunately, with the Champions League moeny, I see you stregthening even more next season, and with football league clubs releasing a lot of player, see a lot of them being tempted by the money and chance to play in Europe. Hopefully, by winning the welsh cup (25k) and therefor going straight through to the 2nd qualifying round (80k+) we can challenge the top 3 on a more consistent basis next season, not just in the one off matches.
