By Thomas White April 16 2009 The controversial Connahs Quay and Flint merger appears to be off.
According to a story on www.welsh-premier.com the proposed merger of the Flintshire rivals has been called off. The move had received widespread criticism, including that of local MP Mark Tami.
www.welsh-premier.org.uk are still awaiting confirmation from GAP Connah's Quay officials that this is the case, and will keep you updated accordingly.
connahs quay should deffinatly move out of their stadium whatever happens.they d'ont get crowds,no atmosphere, they d'ont cut the grass, their pitch was awfull to play on.[sour grapes after loosing 3-0 on saturday]
This is like an 'old @#$%& drawers' on and off in quick succession.
Was this merger not a pre-condition of Gap staying on to pay the bills? So what now?
I'm not really surprised if it is off again, as I can't see any benefit to Flint other than an early return to the Premier league, but at what cost to their management, players and above all pride.
My advice is do it on your own, you will feel more sense of achievemnet that way.Don't take the 'fool's gold'
