Spireites Give 'Spireited' Performance

A spirited performance by the Spireites last night ensured a 1-0 win against the Premiership outfit. Kevin Davies as promised featured in the line up and was substituted late on during the second half. He left to a standing ovation from the Chesterfield faithful. Carl Muggleton started after he conceeded 5 goals at home to Derby last Saturday. However was replaced by the introduction of Andy Richmond for the start of the second half. Neither keeper were really tested as the Spireites remained the dominant force up front! N'Toya and Allison started and some promising play from both, with clever flick on's that were just never converted!

Hudson made way for Davies during the second half where he looks to have picked up a slight injury! N'Toya and Allison were replaced in the half time interval for the introduction of Debolla and Caleb. Both players unlucky to make it onto the score sheet!

Allott remained outstanding in midfield and was totally in everything last night! Last night saw one individual player performance, from young Adam Smith. His pace totally unran Bolton's defence and a promising prospect for next season if he can break into the first 11!

O'Hare was rested for this game after picking up a slight knock at home to Derby! Blatherwick getting the only goal of the game in a first half which was fairly boring apart from the goal. The visitors never took control and the Spireites looked the somewhat better team. Davies have a fairly quiet performance for the visitors in the visit from this former Spireite legend! Niven had a battling performance in midfield, his former club, he probably impressed!

Also Debolla looked impressive for the first time in my honest opinion! Took defenders on and had that extra bit of skill!

Away to Burton to end the friendlies and then the new season starts at home to Brentford on August 7th, don't miss it!!
