Queens Park Rangers Assistant Manager, Kenny Jackett has become the new manager of Swansea City. The 42 year old was unveiled at a Vetch Field press conference this morning.

Queens Park Rangers Assistant Manager, Kenny Jackett has become the new manager of Swansea City.  The 42 year old was unveiled at a Vetch Field press conference this morning.
 
A club statement reads:

The Board of Swansea City Football Club are very pleased to announce the appointment of their new Team Manager Mr Kenny Jacket. Kenny has signed a contract with the Club until the end of the 2005/2006 season.


The Board feels that Kenny has the passion, knowledge and experience to improve the Club, he also has the level of expertise and enthusiasm to take the Club forward. His will to win and ambition is extensive and he has stated he will leave no stone unturned in his aim to get the players fit, organised and as motivated as possible.

Kenny has left his position as Assistant Manager of Queens Park Rangers to take up his position as Swansea City Football Club Manager with immediate effect.


Kenny is 42 years of age, married with two young sons, and the entire family will be moving to the area.

Kenny is not bringing an Assistant with him at present. Once he has gauged the requirements he may then appoint one, and obviously he will be given the scope to do so.

During his playing career, he made 423 first team appearances for Watford FC and gained 31 full caps for Wales, he retired at the age of 28 through injury.

He started his managerial career in 1990 running the Youth Department at Watford F.C. until 1996, he then took on the Managers position 1996-1997. During 1997 he became Watford FC's Assistant Manager under Graham Taylor a post he held until 2001. Kenny then moved to Queens Park Rangers as Assistant Manager in 2001, a post he has held until his appointment as Manager of Swansea City Football Club.

Kenny's qualifications are U.E.F.A. A Coaching Licence and a Certificate in Applied Management.

Kenny Jacket is a seasoned professional in the football industry, who has played, coached and managed at top levels, having a proven track record of discovering young talent and developing them into successful first team players.
