City To Move Up To Division Two

Chester City may be a Division Two outfit next season if they are promoted from the Nationwide Conference.

Confused? So were we!

The Football Association are under discussion over a possible change to the titles of each league in hope of raising the profile of the lower leagues.

With the gap between the Premiership and the Nationwide leagues at an all time high the Football Association are trying to boost interest in lower leagues by changing the traditional "Nationwide Division One" to "Nationwide League Championship" which would in turn make the current Division Two move up to Division One.

This would make the Nationwide Conference become Division Three which would enter Chester into Division Two (Current Division Three) if promotion is successful.

The FA hope the idea will help bridge the gap between England's elite 20 club league and the football league.
