City set to hit summit
By Webmaster
September 7 2002
Mark Wright’s Chester City could move to the top of the Nationwide Conference if they overcome Leigh RMI at the Deva Stadium tonight (7.45 kick off).

Chester currently hold third place in the Conference and will be hoping to jump both Woking and Doncaster Rovers to top spot tonight.

The other 20 clubs in the Nationwide Conference play tomorrow (Saturday) with the Doncaster vs Dagenham + Redbridge game being broadcasted on sky television. This means the Seals may only hold onto top spot for 19 hours providing they beat Leigh.

Mark Wright’s men welcome highly rated defender Phil Bolland back into the squad for the tie, although he will properly only make the substitutes bench.

This news is made even better for Wright after Steve Harkness limped off the field against Morecambe on Tuesday night. Harkness should be out for up to 12 days with a groin strain.

Leigh Railway Mechanics Institute’s manager Steve Waywell has both defender Dominic Ludden (back) and Midfielder Gerry Harrison (Knee) as big doubts going into the fixture.
