Rovers let an early lead slip to lose 2-1

ROVERS kicked off the new season with a defeat away to Torquay despite Rovers taking the lead after only 5 minutes through Guiliano Grazioli.
Ray Graydon’s first game in charge for Rovers ended in disappointment. It saw Rovers play six new players all making their debuts.

The Gas made the perfect start when defender Adam Barrett crossed in and it eventually found it's way to Guiliano Grazioli who smashed home the opening goal after just five minutes to send the Rovers faithful wild.

Torquay managed to play some decent football throughout the first half and deserved to equalise on the stroke of half time. Poor defending by Rovers allowed Martin Critton to head home from a Prince cross.

Rovers came out raring to go in the second half and it seemed it would be only a matter of time before we scored, however, while Rovers were pressing forward they left gaps at the back and suddenly forward came Torquay and a cross was swept to the far post where Trevor Challis and Tony Bedeau collided, unbelievably the referee gave a penalty to Torquay - Very harsh. Alex Russell tucked home the penalty. 2-1.

That is the way the scores stayed despite some good close chances at the end from Rovers.

Although disappointing for everyone the players looked well up for the cause but just switched off on certain occasions in the game that proved crucial.

Hull City at home next on Tuesday night - I'll be there - Come on you blues!
