Coleman to be forced out?

Chris Coleman
By Chris O'Brien September 9 2002
Fulham and Wales defender, Chris Coleman could be forced to retire from professional football as problems with a knee injury sustained in a car crash last year have returned. Coleman is expected to make a decision over his playing future in the next few weeks.
After a fantastic weekend for Welsh football, there is a some bad news, which have spoilt the celebrations slightly regarding defender, Chris Coleman.

The Fulhan and Wales defender could be forced to quit professional football altogether.

Coleman was involved in a horrific car crash, which saw him suffer from a broken leg and ruptured ligaments, and doctors said he was luck to be alive. But, Coleman looked on course to be making a miracle comeback, which included taking part in a few minutes of Wales' memorable 1-0 victory over Germany.

Unfortunately, Coleman has struggled this season, and has been unable to train with Fulham after problems with his knee have returned. He will be talking with doctors over the next week or so who are expected to advice him to give up the game for good.

Should Coleman decide to retire, he is likely to be offered a coaching role with Fulham, and possibly a job in the Wales set-up.

Best of luck to Chris on his future.
