It was 21 games unbeaten prior to this game but the run came to an end as goals either side of the break finished off a Wolves side described as "toothless" by boss Glenn Hoddle.
The facts were that Wolves dominated this game and tore United apart with swift and sharp passing. One move in the first half consisted of over 20 passes but the story was the same as it was against Southampton on the first day of the season with Wolves failing to make possession pay.
However credit where credit's due. The reason United won this game and became only the second side to beat Wolves in the last 30 league games was the fact that the few (two) chances they had they put them away.
Wolves - as Hoddle noted - looked toothless, looked for the 'perfect' goal when a more direct approach could have been better.
This wasn't a poor performance and Hoddle will take heart that, in the two away games so far this season, Wolves have dominated. However after two away games Wolves have failed to score a single goal, something Hoddle will be a little worried about.
LEEDS UNITED 2-0 WOLVES
