FORMER Wolves Chairman and Vice President Jack Harris sadly passed away this morning after being admitted to Hospital with a Stroke. Mr Harris was 79.

Mr Harris was Wolves Chairman between 1988 and 1992 and guided Wolves through the darkest years in the clubs history. He handed over to Jonathan Hayward when he retired as Wolves Chairman in '92, at which point Sir Jack Hayward asked him to become a director of the club.

In 1993 the famous old "Southbank" was renamed in honour of all the work he had done for the club, a name which still sits proudly on the side of the Southbank today.

"Jack steered the club through one of the most difficult periods in its history." Rick Hayward told WOW. "He was a strong and safe pair of hands at a time when there was tremendous upheaval. The Wolverhampton Wanderers of today has a lot to be grateful to him for."

"Jack was much loved by everyone at the club and particularly by the Hayward family. He will be missed by all of us. Our sympathies go to his family."

Jack Harris last visited Molineux on the 15th Januaray to see Wolves' 4-2 win over West Ham United.

The Wolves players will wear black armbands as a sign of respect in the FA Cup at Arsenal tomorrow and a minutes silence will be held before the next home game against Sunderland a week today.
