WOLVES STEP
INTO NEXT
ROUND

28th October 2003| Wolves 2 Burnley 0 (Miller, Craddock)

Wolves stepped into the next round of the cup with a less than convincing 2-0 home win over the Clarets. Jones was expected to make serious changes to the team which beat Leicester at the weekend but only four changes were made.

Paul Ince returned after missing his last two games to Captain the side. Joey Gudjonsson was in midfield with Henri Camara on the left and Portuguese International Silas on the right.

Steffen Iversen and Kenny Miller were the strike force whilst the only change at the back was Oleg Luzhny replacing Denis Irwin.

There was not too much to report on in this match, despite the fact that the Offiside flag went up far too many times, the wind was blowing, the rain was falling, and for some strange reason, the Burnley `keeper was wearing a Wolves shirt with Matt Murray on the back.

The first half, from a Wolves prospective was as boring as they come. "It`s not as fun when you don`t give them a 3 goal start, is it?" said the chap next to me at half time, he was right.

Ince, who is usually a tiger in the tackle looked out of sorts, Luzhny looked slow and Silas continued to impress in flashes before wasting the good opportunity he had created.

Michael Oakes made a good save either side of the break, and this was the closest Burnley came, although by the time the half-time whistle had blown, Wolves had not had one notable chance.

Paul Ince was taken off at half time for Alex Rae and within 3 minutes of the break Wolves were ahead.

Henri Camara, who had changed his boots to silver in the first half but returned in the second with his traditional Orange boots sprinted down the left wing, his cross was stepped over by Iversen and Kenny MJiller scored his first goal of the season.

Burnley again came close but Jody Craddock put the game beyond all doubt ten minutes from time.

A corner whipped in by Silas found the head of Craddock who headed the ball home from 6yrds.

We`r through to the next round.
