| Wolverhampton Wanderers finally won their first point of the season today, however a point was not enough to prevent the team becoming the worst Premiership Starters in history. | |

Wolverhampton Wanderers finally won their first point of the Premiership Season in the last game before the player sign off for international duty. Dave Jones opted to use the same team and same formation which played so well at Old Trafford on Wednesday, new signing Joey Gudjonsson could only sit and watch from the bench. Wolves could and possibly should have been a goal to the good after just two minutes. Henri Camara, who followed his impressive debut at Old Trafford with an equally impressive performance against Pompey provided some great work on the edge of the area, but Alex Rae hit his shot inches wide. Portsmouth hit the top of the Premiership in mid-week for a reason, and the threat from the away team was too evident for Wolves after 9 minutes. Steve Stone took the ball past Naylor with ease on the right and his hard powerful shot was well saved by stand-in keeper Michael Oakes. Two minutes later, Teddy Sherringham, who scored a hat-trick against Bolton in mid-week shot just wide from the edge of the area. Wolves then took over the game, and dominated the remaining 30 odd minutes of the first half. Colin Cameron sent a free-kick into the box and Paul Ince somehow missed the target from just 6yrds out. Camara again came close on several occasions, but his bright orange boots were unable to direct the ball into the back of the net. HT- Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 Portsmouth 0 The second half became a drab game and will be mainly remembered for Andy D`urso`s decision to send of Portsmouth Manager Harry Redknap. Redknap appeared to be angry with one of D`urso`s decisions, and was even more furious after the fourth official brought Redknaps over-reaction to the attention of D`urso who sent him to the stands. Alex Rae came close for Wolves but was substituted with 15 minutes to go for new signing Joey Gudjonsson. Camara came close on another occasion, but after four minutes of added on time, neither team were able to break the deadlock. The last two performances have been so much better than the first two and on another occasion, Wolves would have had the final touch and would have won the game.
