Author: Scott Cooper Wolves Manager Dave Jones has slammed his Wolves side, and in particular Dean Sturridge after Wolves were hit for six in a friendly at not-so high flying Morecambe. With Wolves friendly game against Den Haag which was due to be played at Telfords ground cancelled, Dave Jones took a full strength squad to Morecambe`s Christie Park. Wolves lost the game - And it wasn`t a close result either. In fact Wolves were three goals down after just 17 Minutes with a back four which included Paul Butler, Mark Clyde, Denis Irwin and new signing Oleg Luzhny. It was to get worse for Wolves, as the team captained by Paul Ince again conceded before Keith Andrews prevented a white wash at 4-1. Morecambe however were not finished as they banged in goals Five and Six before the final whistle. Wolves striker Dean Sturridge left the field injured after just 36 Minutes and Jones blasted the former Derby and Leicester Striker for not preparing for the game properly. Jones told The Sun "If Dean had prepared properly before kick off, he would not have pulled his hamstring so early in the game. With a proper warm-up, he would have prevented something like that happening" Jones also blasted his squad after the huge 6-1 humiliation. A fuming Dave Jones told Teamtalk "We just didn't apply ourselves properly, We are extremely embarrassed by this result." |
